Gvernment gets supportive of farmers in Aguata to propagate food sufficiency

Ekwulobia (Aguata LGA), July 7, 2021 (MOI) Anambra State Government through the Ministry of Agriculture embarked on distribution of hybrid farm inputs to achieve food sufficiency.

“We are here at Aguata to assist farmers to achieve bountiful harvests and flood farm produce in markets,’’ said Mrs Vivian Ekwensi, A Special Assistant to the Governor on Agric.

Mrs Ekwensi, who led a 5-man Team, said this while distributing hybrid cassava stems, maize and organic liquid fertilisers, at the Aguata Local Government premises, on July 5.

Farmers under cooperative, registered individual farmers and none registered farmers, converged to receive the inputs.

Each received bundles of cassava stem, maize and organic liquid fertilizer.

Farmers who received these items with enthusiasm, however, noted that it was regrettable that the quantity the received would not to match with the size of their farms.

In response, Agric Mrs Ekwensi said, the cassava stem you have received were hybrid, such that in six months, you could harvest them to have stems to go round your farm.

The beneficiaries include Mr Thomas Okpalauwaekwe, Chukwujekwu Okpalaochieri, Ndidiamaka Umueze and Njideka Umeh expressed joy at the receipt of the items.

They poured encomiums to Gov. Willie Obiano for being supportive to farmers since inception into office in the last seven years.

They prayed to God to keep him in good health, sound mind and wisdom to enable him to hand over to a successor that would walk his part in leadership.

All beneficiaries promised going to use these inputs judiciously. Other members of the 5-man Team are Chris Ojegbu, Theresa Obi (Auditor), Stanley Iwegbunam (Admin), Favour Nwachukwu (Admin-Personnel).
