Adamawa State begins Mass Vaccination of Cattle Against Deadly outbreak

The Adamawa state government has begun a mass vaccination of cattle across the State to prevent the Hemorrhagic Septicaemia disease which already in neighbouring Taraba State and has killed over a thousand.

according to the Commissioner for Livestock and Aquaculture, Alhaji Tijjani Marksha,, the vaccination was a measure taking to stop the spread of the disease which has a symptoms of sweating, hotness in the animal’s body, and an incubation period of 24 hours to kill a cattle.

hundreds of cattle have already been vaccinated so far in Gongoshi, Mayo Belwa Local Government Area where the campaign started.

The Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance from cattle rearers and appreciated Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s timely intervention.

He urged people to report suspected cases to the nearest veterinary clinics or the ministry.

The Director of State Veterinary Services, Dr. Berthilimous Nyalas, listed the targeted local governments for the first phase of the vaccination exercise a
s Numan, Demsa, Lamurde, Mayo Belwa, Toungo, Fufore, Maiha, Mubi North, and Mubi South, due to their proximity to Taraba State and the Cameron Republic.

He stated that all modalities have been put in place to ensure that the targeted animals are vaccinated.
