Post: Ajuloopin and Olupo Attend 25-Year Remembrance Prayers for Late Chief Yesufu Adedoyin


Ijomu-oro: A federal lawmaker, Raheem Ajuloopin, and the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Ismail Alebiosu, were among the dignitaries who attended the 25-year remembrance prayers for Chief Yesufu Adedoyin on Monday in Ijomu-Oro, Kwara.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, Adedoyin, who was the Olori-ewe of Oro land in Kwara, passed away on November 24, 2000. He was also recognized as the Baba Adinni of Ijomu Oro and the Mogaji Adinni of Lagos Central Mosque.



The prayers, held at the Ijomu-Oro Central Mosque, were led by the Chief Imam of Ijomu-Oro, Sheikh Bashir Ibrahim. The Chief Imam of Oro Kingdom, Sheikh Taofeeq Sanusi, delivered a sermon emphasizing the importance of remembering late parents through prayers and alms giving, especially when they have left lasting legacies. Sanusi described the late Adedoyin as a community leader whose influence extended beyond local boundaries.



Sanusi highlighted Adedoyin’s contributions to establishing Ansarul Islam Grammar School in Ijomu-Oro, noting the success of its graduates. He commended the deceased’s children, particularly Chief Raheem Adedoyin, a former Commissioner for Information in Kwara, for honoring their father through the prayers.



In his tribute, the younger Adedoyin described his father as a respected community leader and bridge builder. He mentioned the wide recognition his father received for his dedication to community and religious services. The presence of notable figures, including the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, marked the significance of the event and the respect held for his late father.



Other attendees included Hon. Shola Odetundun, representing Irepodun Local Government in the Kwara House of Assembly, retired Gen. Lasisi Abidoye, an APC chieftain in Omu-Aran, and members of the 1978 set of Ansarul Islam Grammar School. Special prayers were offered for Adedoyin’s family, Oro Kingdom, Kwara, and Nigeria.
