Legendary American actor James Earl Jones, best known for voicing Mufasa and Darth Vader, has passed away at 93.
Late on Monday, September 9, 2024, news spread across the internet that the renowned actor had passed away, causing a stir on social media. TMZ reports that the actor died in the morning at his upstate New York home, surrounded by family.
Born on January 17, 1931, the actor was celebrated for his deep voice and commanding presence. His distinguished career spanned film, television, and theatre, with iconic roles including Darth Vader in Star Wars, King Jaffe Joffer in the Coming to America films, and Mufasa in Disney’s The Lion King.
His stage career featured a Tony Award-winning performance in The Great White Hope and notable roles in Fences and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Jones was also recognized for his extensive television work, including appearances in Roots and The Big Bang Theory.
As an EGOT winner, James earned two Emmys, a Grammy, an Honorary Oscar, and three Tony Awards. His prominent th
eatre roles include The Great White Hope (1969) and Fences (1987).
Jones lent his voice to The Simpsons and appeared in early Sesame Street episodes. He also took on iconic Shakespearean roles like Othello and King Lear.
Beyond his acting achievements, James was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the 75th Rangers Regiment.
