Abuja: The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has initiated an enhanced security patrol of boarding schools across the state. This development was confirmed by Mr. Adetunji Adeleye, the Commander of the Corps, as he presented 16 suspects involved in various offences.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Mr. Adeleye emphasized that full surveillance operations have been implemented for schools with boarding facilities. These measures come in response to recent reports of security breaches and kidnappings. Over the past week, Amotekun Corps has intensified its presence around numerous boarding schools, particularly those situated in border towns and the outskirts of urban areas.
The initiative, part of the broader ‘Operation Le Won Jade’ which commenced on November 6, aims to bolster security in border regions. Mr. Adeleye noted that these efforts have been instrumental in displacing miscreants, bandits, and kidnappers from forested areas. Furthermore, a continuous 24-hour patrol within the metropolitan areas remains active, yielding significant results.
In the past week alone, Amotekun Corps has made 34 arrests, with 16 of those individuals currently being paraded. Mr. Adeleye reassured the residents of Ondo State of the security agencies’ commitment to safeguarding lives and property, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to maintain safety and security.
