Awka: The Anambra Government has sanctioned a budget of N9.72 billion dedicated to the advancement of crucial infrastructure projects within the state, as announced by the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Mefor made this revelation during a press briefing in Awka, following the 11th State Executive Council (ANSEC) meeting. The approved funds are designated for contracts focusing on erosion reclamation, flood control, school block reconstruction, and road rehabilitation.
Highlighted projects include the construction of access roads within Nwafor Orizu College of Education, allocated N2.10 billion, and the development of a 2.28-km Umunze-Umuchu bypass with accompanying erosion and flood control measures, budgeted at N3.5 billion. Additionally, a 3.9-km access road network within Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Uli Campus, is set to receive N2.65 billion, while the completion of the ongoing Country Club construction at the Ekwulobia Stadium Complex is allocated N528.6 million.

In addition to infrastructure projects, the council expressed a commitment to launching the Anambra Rebirth Programme, which aims to promote the Igbo values of integrity and hard work. The administration under Governor Soludo is addressing inherited counterpart financing arrears up to 2024 to ensure more public schools receive adequate attention.
