Dateline: Anambra: The Anambra State Government Flood Management Team, spearheaded by Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, has recently received a generous donation of food items from the Bank of Industry to support individuals displaced by floods in the region.
According to Voice of Nigeria, the team, accompanied by Commissioner for Trade and Commerce Mr. Christian Udechukwu and Commissioner for Environment Dr. Felix Odimegwu, is committed to ensuring the swift distribution of these provisions to the affected local government councils and their communities. Deputy Governor Ibezim stressed the necessity of immediate access to these supplies for those impacted by the floods.
The aid package includes essential food items such as vegetable oil, semovita, noodles, salt, flour, and sugar, which are expected to offer temporary relief to the displaced individuals. l relief materials to support the ongoing efforts.
Dr. Odimegwu, as part of the flood management team, also emphasized the proactive stance of the Environment Ministry in issuing early warnings and weekly flood forecasts. These measures have been instrumental in minimizing panic, increasing awareness, and encouraging residents to relocate to safer areas before floodwaters rise.
