Bi-Courtney Donates N2 Million to Support Blind Students’ Education


Lagos: As part of its corporate social responsibility, Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Ltd. on Thursday visited the Bethesda Home/School for the Blind in Lagos, praising the students’ skill and talent. Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Ltd operates the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2) in Lagos.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, Mr. Kola Bamigboye, Acting Chief Operating Officer and Head of Premises, stated that the visit was a part of the company’s 18th anniversary celebrations. He recalled that Bethesda had visited MMA2 in 2024, leaving a lasting impression on the staff and management of the terminal. Bamigboye commended the company’s Founder and Chairman, Dr. Wale Babalakin, SAN, for recognizing talent and sending the team with gifts.



Presenting a cheque for N2 million, Bamigboye expressed admiration for the students’ brilliance, confidence, and talent, which were evident during their visit to the terminal. He emphasized the importance of Bethesda Home for the Blind in providing hope and education to visually impaired children and acknowledged the significant impact of their work. He also praised the staff for nurturing the children’s potential and providing them with dignity and opportunity.



Mr. Remi Jibodu, Acting Chief Operating Officer and Head of Aeronautical and Cargo, also spoke highly of the school’s innovation. He noted the inspiration drawn from the children’s use of their skills despite visual impairment, which motivated Bi-Courtney to support their excellence and spirit. Jibodu conveyed greetings from the chairman, who was moved by the children’s visit to MMA2 and encouraged the team to support them further.



Dr. Chioma Ohakwe, Founder of the school, urged parents of physically challenged children to enroll them in educational institutions rather than hiding them away. She highlighted that disability is not the end, citing the academic success of some students in tertiary institutions. Although she acknowledged ongoing challenges, she affirmed the school’s determination to remain relevant and impactful, revealing that the school currently accommodates over 200 children across various educational levels.



The News Agency of Nigeria also reported that Bi-Courtney marked its 18th anniversary on May 7 with the unveiling of a 3D Exterior Signage. Mrs. Ajoke Yinka-Olawuyi, Head of Corporate Communications, mentioned that the new signage enhances the terminal’s identity and user orientation. Additionally, the company pledged to provide training on security for staff and students to improve safety at the school premises. Other anniversary activities included music, gifts, and a funfair at the terminal to entertain passengers and celebrate the milestone.
