Bhaktapur: The Nepal Red Cross Society, with financial backing from the Chinese Red Cross Society, has inaugurated a new central warehouse in Bhaktapur. This facility, constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 120 million, is designed to store essential non-food supplies, including ‘dignity kits’ for women and children, to be used during emergencies.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Dharma Datt Bidari, Acting Executive Director of the Nepal Red Cross, and Bian Xiao, Vice President of the Chinese Red Cross Society, jointly opened the warehouse. Nepal’s varied geography and susceptibility to natural disasters like earthquakes necessitate such preparedness measures, making the supplies in this warehouse crucial for effective relief efforts. During the inauguration, Bian Xiao highlighted the significant contributions of the Nepal Red Cross Society in the field of humanitarian aid.
Parshuram Pandey, President of the Bhaktapur District Branch of the Nepal Red Cross Society, expressed gratitude for the support from the Chinese Red Cross Society in building the warehouse. He also conveyed hope for continued support from the Chinese Red Cross in disaster management and other areas in the future. The event was attended by the Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Wang Xin, Hai Liman, Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Chinese Red Cross Society, Cai Wennan, Director of the Disaster Management Department of the Chinese Red Cross Society, officials from the Bhaktapur District Branch of the Nepal Red Cross Society, and youth volunteers from the Junior and Youth Red Cross Circle.
