Easter: FG Declares Friday, Monday Public Holidays


Abuja: The Federal Government has declared April 18th and 21st as public holidays to enable Christians celebrate Easter. This announcement was made in a statement by the Ministry of Interior’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Magdalene Ajani, in Abuja.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Ajani stated that the public holidays were designated to mark Good Friday and Easter Monday. The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, offered his congratulations to Christians nationwide on the occasion of the Easter festivities.

Tunji-Ojo highlighted the significance of the virtues of sacrifice and love exemplified by Jesus Christ, whose death is believed to bring redemption to humanity. He urged Nigerians to take advantage of the holiday period to pray for peace, unity, and stability in the country.

The minister also reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at fostering national growth and development. Tunji-Ojo encouraged citizens to practice acts of kindness and generosity towa
rds their neighbors.

In his closing remarks, the Minister wished Christians a blissful Easter celebration and extended warm holiday greetings to all citizens.
