Lagos: The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the closure of Runway 18R/36L at Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, for rehabilitation work. The closure commenced at 3:00 a.m. on Monday and is scheduled to conclude at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the temporary closure is to facilitate ongoing rehabilitation work, specifically the asphalt phase at the A2 Taxiwaylink of the runway. This initiative is part of FAAN’s ongoing efforts to maintain the runway in optimal condition.
Mrs. Obiageli Orah, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at FAAN, assured that there will be no disruption to flight operations during this period. All flights will be redirected to the alternative runway, 18L/36R, ensuring seamless travel for passengers.
Orah also highlighted FAAN’s commitment to ensuring the safety, security, and comfort of all airport users.
