The Minority Whip in the House of Representatives, Mr Ali Isa has commiserated with the government and people of Borno State, North East Nigeria on the recent flood incident.
He said that nothing can be so heart-breaking than to wake up and realise that thousands of people have lost their homes and means of livelihood to such unprecedented natural disaster, and it is made more sad and painful that a number of human lives have also been lost
in the situation.
‘It was with bated breath that we all woke up to the sad news of the very disastrous flood disaster that occurred yesterday, Tuesday, September 10, 2024, in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
Following this heart-wrenching development, I hereby extend my deepest sympathy and unwavering support to victims of this devastating flood disaster that has severely ravaged parts of the city of Maiduguri and its environs. In the same vein, I also offer my condolences and full support to the government of Borno State as it works tirelessly to provide much-need
ed relief to all those affected.
And considering the enormity of the disaster, which requires enormous support for the victims and the State in general, I hereby call on the federal government and the entire 36 states, including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, to join hands together with the Borno State Government and assist them with all the necessary items and funds that will help them reconstruct the homes and businesses that have been lost, including places of worship and public infrastructure that have also been destroyed. This, I strongly believe, will even help in strengthening the bond of unity in our country,’ Mr. Isa said.
He also reiterated that his thoughts and prayers are with the victims and the entire people and government of Borno State.
‘ I remain confident that the resilience and strength of character of the great people of Borno State will help see them through this very challenging period,’ he stated.
