NAN MD Urges Journalists to Embrace All-Media Platforms at Global Summit.


Sau Paulo: The Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Malam Ali Muhammad Ali, has called on journalists to take advantage of opportunities provided by all-media platforms. He made this appeal during the Global South Media and Think Tank Summit held in Sau Paulo, Brazil. The summit centered on the theme: ‘Development and Revitalisation: A New Journey for the Global South.’

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Ali emphasized that the convergence of print, film, recording, radio, and television into digitally stored information has created a complex yet unified media landscape. This convergence, often referred to as protean, has redefined how media is consumed and produced globally. Ali highlighted that this fusion of traditional and digital media is transforming the industry in ways not previously imagined by content creators and consumers.

Ali elaborated on how the all-media era has significantly altered the global media landscape, creating a formidable media entity that demands innovation an
d adaptation from industry leaders. He stressed the importance of exploring viable options and innovating to navigate the challenges facing the media industry worldwide. The era of constant change in media products and services, he noted, requires a strong focus on innovation to sustain the media’s existence.

Ali also remarked on the technological advancements that allow media content to be shared across multiple channels, enhancing global reach and connectivity. He urged stakeholders to embrace all-media platforms for their potential to diversify income streams through sponsored content, advertising, and e-commerce. Ali called for strategic partnerships to foster collaborations and encouraged media leaders to develop diverse content and engage audiences through interactive initiatives.

Furthermore, Ali discussed NAN’s efforts to innovate and meet the demands of a diverse and selective audience. He mentioned the launch of an interactive website in local languages, starting with Hausa, as part of NAN’s inclu
sivity initiatives. He concluded by urging media leaders to experiment with new formats and platforms, invest in digital literacy and skills, and work towards promoting a brighter future for the media industry.
