The Nigerian National Assembly has postponed the resumption of its plenary sessions by one week.
Originally scheduled for September 17, 2024, the sessions will now resume on September 24, 2024, after the conclusion of a seven-week annual recess.
In notices sent to lawmakers, Mr. Chinedu Akubueze, the Clerk of the Senate, and Mr. Akin Rotimi, the Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, confirmed the change.
The plenaries will reconvene at 11:00 am on the new date.

Mr. Rotimi, speaking on behalf of the House, mentioned that during the recess, members engaged extensively in outreach activities across their constituencies.
He also highlighted the upcoming inauguration of the new board of the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) and the Joint Senate/H
ouse Ad Hoc Committees on the Petroleum Industry Investigation, which is scheduled for September 25, 2024.
It would be recalled that the 10th National Assembly had commenced a seven-week recess and was expected to reconvene on September 17th, 2024.
Both chambers of the Assembly – Senate, and House of Representatives, were supposed to be on break for seven weeks which is their yearly recess.
