In an effort to ensure the successful realization of the ‘New Niger’ Agenda, the Niger State Government north central Nigeria has embarked on the simultaneous construction of 100 Level 2 Primary Healthcare Centres across the state, with no hitches reported so far.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Digital Media and Strategy, Abdul Usman Ebbo, in Minna.
According to Ebbo, the Governor announced during the ceremony that work on about 20 of these centres will commence immediately, while the remaining centres will follow in subsequent phases. He added that two of the planned facilities could not begin due to minor technical issues; these are located at Maitumbi FM in Bosso and Old Orphanage, Nasarawa C, in Chanchaga Local Government Area.
Ebbo noted that, ‘Governor Bago emphasized that these Level 2 Primary Healthcare Centers would be situated across all 25 local government areas of the state, ensuring that residents have access to quality healthcare services within
their communities without the need to travel long distances.
‘The centres will be equipped with modern facilities, including state-of-the-art beds, maternity equipment, computers, and a 24-hour solar power system, among other amenities, to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.’
Ebbo maintained that of the 100 Level 2 Primary Healthcare Centers planned, about 20 are set to be completed in the coming weeks, demonstrating that the current administration, under Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, has prioritized the health sector to improve healthcare facilities across the state.
