Abu dhabi: The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd is pioneering a sustainable energy future for Africa, focusing on technology, business integration, and strategic partnerships. Mr. Mumuni Dagazau, Executive Vice President, Downstream, NNPC Ltd., emphasized this commitment during a high-level panel session on the Future of Refining at the 2025 Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC).
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Dagazau outlined the company’s strategy to redefine its operations around sustainability and integration to ensure long-term profitability amid a global shift towards decarbonization. He highlighted that decarbonization has become essential, serving as a “license to operate” in the evolving energy landscape. He noted the necessity of balancing cost, energy security, and environmental responsibility during the energy transition.
Dagazau acknowledged that Nigeria faces both challenges and opportunities in expanding energy availability while adhering to decarbonization targets. He emphasized that success for NNPC Ltd. involves sustaining a profitable business model for the next 20 years. To achieve energy security, the company plans to leverage technology and partnerships, integrating refining, petrochemical, and retail operations to meet future product requirements for Nigeria and Africa.
Reaffirming NNPC Ltd.’s dedication to leading Africa’s energy transformation, Dagazau highlighted the company’s focus on strategic, sustainable, and commercially viable investments.
