Quality Standards: SON Presents Compliance Certificates to 30 Companies in Kano


Thirty (30) Companies in Kano State Northwest Nigeria, have been presented with certificates by the Standard Organisation of Nigeria, SON for meeting quality Standards of productions.

The Kano State Coordinator Standards Organisation of Nigeria, Ado Ibrahim made the presentation in Kano, on behalf of the Director General Dr. Efeanyi Okeke.

While congratulating the companies for having their products certified, Okeke said, it was an indication that, the companies served and distributed quality products in the Nigerian markets.

He commended the companies for making their products meet certification standards for SON and Nigeria.

‘Your products have been sampled tested and certified in accordance with the relevant standard.’

Dr. Okeke urged them to continue to work with SON and be it’s ambassador in the market Environment.

‘Be our Ambassadors out there so that, by the time you’re selling your products, we will be one of those people who will assure the customers why the product was certified.’

He said th
e certificates have validity period of one year after which companies can renew them.

Okeke also informed them of the numerous benefits registered companies stand to gain with the approved certification.

‘Apart from getting your legal rights to own, protect your own brand, you can also use it to fight counterfeit.

Any body that copied your products definitely will not have logo or SON registration number displayed and you can report to us and we will be readily available to work with you guys to protect your interest.’

Okeke expressed the commitment of SON to have a data base of companies selling or producing products with the aim to protect their brands and apprehend those illegally copying their brands.

‘To SON, we intend to have a data base of who brings what or who sells what, it forms a source of traceability where in case of any issue that might come up from the sale or distribution of your products, it will be traceable to so so person.’

Okeke noted that, with the certification, companies and pro
ducers are mandated to print SON logo and the number on their packaging materials in order to guide customers on the integrity of the products.
