Three Katsina Lawmakers Switch Allegiance from PDP to APC


Abuja: Three members of the House of Representatives from Katsina State have resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).



According to News Agency of Nigeria, the lawmakers who announced their defection are Rep. Balarabe Dabayi representing Bakori/Danja Constituency, Rep. Aliyu Iliyasu of Batsari/Safana/Danmusa Constituency, and Rep. Salisu Majigiri from Mashi/Dutsi Federal Constituency. The announcement was made during a plenary session, where the Speaker of the House, Rep. Tajudeen Abbas, formally welcomed them into the APC fold.



In their separate letters of resignation read by the speaker, the lawmakers attributed their decision to leave the PDP to the ongoing internal crisis within the party. This development marks a significant shift in the political landscape of Katsina State as these representatives join the ruling party.



The session was further highlighted by the presence of Katsina State Governor, Umar Dikko Radda, who attended to show his support for the lawmakers’ decision, signifying the importance of their defection to the APC.
