Abuja: President Bola Tinubu on Monday wrote a personal tribute to Dr. Mike Adenuga, Chairman of Globacom and Conoil, who marks his 72nd birthday on April 29. The President highlighted Adenuga’s journey from humble beginnings as a testament to vision and resilience, citing his humility and diligence as key factors behind his success in banking, telecommunications, and oil and gas.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Tinubu expressed admiration for Adenuga, affectionately known as ‘The Guru’ by Nigerians, crediting him with the creation of thousands of jobs through his businesses. He lauded Globacom’s innovative approach to telecommunications, particularly its pioneering per-second billing, which expanded telephony and digital access for millions across the nation.
Tinubu also noted Conoil’s role in proving that an indigenous company could successfully compete with international oil giants, thereby contributing to Nigeria’s energy independence and security. Beyond business, Adenuga’s philanthropic efforts through the Mike Adenuga Foundation have supported tertiary education, healthcare, and cultural advancement throughout Nigeria.
The President acknowledged Adenuga’s investments beyond Nigeria, recognizing his contributions to other African countries and Europe, which have earned him honors such as Commander of the Legion of Honour in France and Ghana’s Companion of the Star of Ghana. Tinubu concluded his tribute by commending Adenuga’s efforts and praying for his continued health, wisdom, and vision as he continues to inspire service to the nation.
