Post: US Reaffirms Strong Partnership with Tanzania Across Key Sectors

Arusha: The Acting US Ambassador to Tanzania, Andrew Lentz, has reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to strengthening its partnership with Tanzania across key sectors. He emphasized that the focus areas will continue to be economy, investment, tourism, health, education, conservation, and community development, all aimed at fostering prosperity and well-being for the people of both nations.

According to Nam News Network, Lentz spoke to journalists in Arusha during his outreach tour of the northern regions of Arusha and Kilimanjaro. He highlighted the strong historical ties between the two countries and pledged continued efforts to deepen those relations. His visit provided an opportunity to engage with American investors and their Tanzanian partners with the goal of expanding and strengthening existing economic and trade ties.

On the topic of conservation, the Acting Ambassador noted the US’s support to Tanzania in wildlife protection through capacity building, government partnerships, and collaborations with NGOs. He emphasized the importance of developing wildlife corridors and managing human-wildlife interactions in a sustainable manner that safeguards Tanzania’s natural heritage.

During his visit, Lentz toured the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC) and the Kibongoto Infectious Disease Centre, both of which have received substantial US government support through the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). At these centers, Lentz met with Tanzanian experts conducting cutting-edge research and clinical trials, advancing global health security, developing cures and vaccines for emerging diseases, and helping prevent cross-border outbreaks such as Marburg and Ebola.

Lentz also reiterated the US government’s unwavering commitment to press freedom.
