Bwari: An author, Mr Andrew Obiagba, has stressed the need for Nigerians to remain united and patriotic for a better Nigeria. Obiagba, a fiction author, made the call at the unveiling of his new book, ‘Let’s Be One’, in Bwari, Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Obiagba advised Nigerians against the dangers of disunity and corruption, stating that the book serves as a clarion call to Nigerians and African nations to awaken to greatness and comity. He emphasized that despite historical challenges like enslavement and colonization, Nigerians possess the intelligence and industriousness necessary to achieve global prominence. He underscored that unity and a shared vision are essential for achieving growth and development.
The author explained that his book examines the story of two youths with a shared vision for a strong, viable nation. However, self-will and selfishness disrupted their noble vision, pushing them to unite in search of a lasting solution. The book proposes a monarchical system of governance as a metaphor for selfless, inclusive leadership.
Earlier, Mr Theophilus Chigudu, the book reviewer, described ‘Let’s Be One’ as a socio-political allegory that combines fiction, history, and moral philosophy to explore leadership crises and issues of identity and unity in post-colonial Nigeria and Africa. Chigudu highlighted that the book uses fiction to reflect social realities, particularly the contradictions within African society and leadership failures.
Chigudu further explained that the book’s title encapsulates the author’s central message regarding disunity, corruption, and external manipulation as Africa’s primary obstacles to progress. He noted that it illustrates how political ambition and moral decay threaten a nation rich with potential, while promoting patriotism and moral integrity.
He recommended the book for political science and history students, as well as Nigerians in general, describing it as a bold work that aims to awaken consciousness. Mr John Gabaya, Chairman of Bwari Area Council, praised the author as a remarkable and diligent staff member, committing to promote the book’s wider patronage.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that family members, church members, and staff of the council attended the book unveiling event.
