Ogun State, South-West Nigeria has appreciated the support of the Nigerian government in the area of infrastructure development, which has made the state stand tall among its equals.
The State Governor, ibikunle Amosun gave the appreciation on behalf of the people of the State on Monday, during the Presidential rally of the All Progressives Congress APC.
Amosun said the people of the state will support President Buhari for a second term of office because of what he has done for the state,
He therefore called on all citizens of the State qualified to vote, to come out en-mass on Saturday February 16 to vote for the President.
He said: We are not just supporting President Muhammadu Buhari because he is our father. We are supporting him based on his performance; he is not the first President in this nation. Nigeria was created in 1960 but if you look at what he has done since he mounted the saddle of leadership, just in less than four years, he has done a lot for the entire nation and Ogun State.
President Buhari is one President that if he says he is going to do something, you can go to bed with his promise. President Buhari said he will fix all our roads and without infrastructures, nothing can happen. Look at what he is doing, everywhere infrastructure is in comatose but he is busy fixing it; look at Lagos-Ibadan expressway and see what President Buhari has done. Look at our railways, the last time they worked in this country was about 30 or more years ago,
This is one man that is worth his talk. The other time I said middle class a r e coming back to Nigeria and now, employment is being created for our young ones on a daily basis. Look at our Social Investment Programmes, like N-Power, school feeding programme, TraderMoni and many other wonderful things that President Buhari is doing, look at our security. Some are busy saying he has not done anything but they are looters that just want to continue to loot the treasury of our dear country and that is why they are against President Muhammadu Buhari.
President Muhammadu Buhari on his part, advised the people of Ogun State to vote for the candidates of their choice during the forthcoming election without being violent.
The President spoke against the background of a near violence that almost marred the Ogun Presidential campaign rally held at the M.K.O Abiola International Stadium in Abeokuta.
Two factions of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Governorship candidate of the state on the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) had clashed at the rally ground to the surprise of many including President Buhari.
Stones and empty water bottles began to fly towards the Presidential podium, when the former Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola mounted the podium and was speaking in Yoruba language in favour of the APC governorship candidate.
The confusion, which saw many party supporters trooping out of the stadium as the atmosphere became tensed, intensified when the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole mounted the podium to speak and present the party's flag to the APC governorship candidate, Dapo Abiodun.
Normalcy was however restored when the Governor of the State again mounted the podium to appeal to supporters to be calm and avoid anything that will embarrass the President.
Those present at the rally were Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, National Leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu as well as Governors of Lagos, Ondo, Ekiti, and Oyo states.
