The Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) on Friday said it was preparing its staff for effective service delivery for the 2021 pilgrimage.
The Executive Secretary, NCPC, Rev.Yakubu Pam said this in Nassarawa state during the commission’s Annual General Staff Retreat.
Pam said the commission was preparing its staff to ensure an excellent pilgrimage was achieved as it intended to raise 10,000 pilgrims for year 2021.
According to him, the five-day retreat with the theme “Creating Performance for Enhanced Pilgrimage” will seek ways for the staff to access, know and work to improve on their weaknesses.
“The retreat will further strengthen team work and enhance performances of staff.
“We are emphasising success and team work because the failure of a unit can affect that of the whole team.
“We are training for more and a better successful pilgrimage
“Discipline and working with rules and regulations are to be known because some staff work blindly without knowing the mission and vision of an organisation.
“Laziness and ignorance will not be condoned; we are making analysis to work on our weakness to improve on for the next pilgrimage. ‘’
Pam said that the training was organised also to revive and rebuild their Christian life as the commission was a religious body.
“We will seek the face of God and talk professionalism as our work involves movement of humans from one country to another.
“Any staff found wanting for any form of manipulation or corrupt practices like requesting for money from an individual for selfish reasons to get the person involved in a trip, will be sanctioned,’’he said
He expressed happiness that so far the holy trip had not had issues of abscondment neither has it recorded any deaths.
Pam said that the commission had a strong medical team that responded to emergencies quickly.
He said that the commission was talking with the Israeli government to see if it was favourable to visit the Jordan as well as Israel.
He called on Christian’s to be prayerful as they approached the end-time, adding that all the trials and tribulations of kidnappings and banditry would soon end.
A participant at the retreat Mrs Joanne Onyekwele, Planning Officer told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the training would enhance her performance and equip her for her duties.
“We were trained on team work and hard work, we are advised against corruption and laziness ,we were also trained on our expectation for next year in regards to performance.’’
She said on the departmental level the commission had created a 10-point agenda on performances.
NAN reports that the NCPC goals are to build increased faith in Christ, help provoke Nigeria’s nationalism, enhance leadership and productive development.
