Post: 2027 Elections Crucial for Nigeria’s Economic and Political Future, Says Tinubu Support Movement

Abuja: A political movement, National Movement for Tinubu-Shettima 2027 – Forward Nigeria, has emphasized the significance of the 2027 elections in Nigeria’s ongoing efforts towards economic transformation, national security, political stability, and sustainable development. The Interim National Coordinating Committee of the movement highlighted this in a statement issued in Abuja.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the statement was jointly signed by the group’s National Coordinator, Prof. Rufa’i Alkali, National Coordinating Secretary, Dr. Bassey Rekpene, and National Media Coordinator, Ardo Zubairu. The support group, advocating for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima under the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform, stressed that the 2027 elections must transcend personal issues and propaganda.

The movement’s support for Tinubu and Shettima is rooted in a belief in continuity for economic transformation, national security, political stability, and sustainable
development. It emphasized the elections as a chance for Nigerians to assess competing visions, evaluate national progress, and make informed choices about leadership and policies suited for advancing the country’s interests.

The group revealed that it has developed a ‘National Covenant,’ outlining its stance on the 2027 general elections and the rationale for supporting Tinubu and Shettima’s re-election. Substantial progress has been made in establishing its philosophical, organizational, and operational foundations.

Among the principal documents developed is the ‘mandate document,’ which defines the Movement’s philosophy, objectives, organizational architecture, and strategic direction. The group has also commenced preparations for its nationwide program of consultations, organization, and mobilization. While initially planning a formal public unveiling on Sept. 1, further consultations and organizational considerations have necessitated a slight adjustment, with a definitive date to be announced soon.

T
he movement has developed a comprehensive program to guide its consultations, stakeholder engagement, public communication, grassroots mobilization, and nationwide interactions. It is strengthening its communication and administrative infrastructure, including its official website, email platforms, WhatsApp channels, and dedicated telephone lines.

Engagements with stakeholders and members across Nigeria and the diaspora have already begun, focusing on establishing their commitment levels, identifying areas of competence and interest, and determining responsibilities they are prepared to undertake. The response has been encouraging.

The group plans to roll out a structured national mobilization program to establish a credible presence across states, local governments, and communities. Details of forthcoming programs, including dates, venues, and participation arrangements, will be communicated through its official channels as preparations conclude.

Emphasizing the need for effective political participation,
the movement noted that achieving its objectives requires more than enthusiasm; organization, communication, mobilization, commitment, and responsible civic participation are indispensable. It urged members and supporters to strengthen networks, deepen community engagement, identify areas for effective contribution, and prepare for the responsibilities of the emerging political season.

The movement’s central objective is to build a broad-based, disciplined, credible, and nationally representative platform of support for the Tinubu-Shettima 2027 project, contributing to a stronger, more prosperous, secure, stable, and forward-looking Nigeria.

The National Movement for Tinubu-Shettima 2027 – Forward Nigeria is envisioned as a credible national vehicle for Nigerians sharing this vision to participate actively, responsibly, and constructively in shaping the country’s political future. It calls on Nigerians who believe in continuity, stability, development, national cohesion, and progressive governance to identi
fy with the emerging national mobilization.
