3SC Triumphs Over Abia Warriors to Claim Second Spot in NPFL

Ibadan: Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan secured a 2-0 victory over Abia Warriors FC on Sunday, propelling them to the second position in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) standings. The match, a part of Matchday 9, took place at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex in Adamasingba, Ibadan.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, 3SC showcased dominance throughout the game. Ayobami Junior set the pace by scoring the first goal in the 20th minute, capitalizing on an opportunity created by Adegoke Abiodun’s powerful strike.

Demonstrating strategic play, 3SC made a tactical substitution in the 45th minute, bringing in Qamar Adegoke to replace Sodiq Ibrahim and strengthen their forward line. Despite Abia Warriors’ efforts, including a close attempt in the 57th minute that missed the mark, they were unable to level the score.

In a bid to maintain their lead, Coach Nurudeen Aweroro introduced Ayodele Ismail and Adams Mustapha in the 60th minute, substituting Ayobami Junior and Awosanmi Promise. This maneuver helped 3SC sustain their advantage and secure the win.

The News Agency of Nigeria further reports that this victory advanced the Oluyole Warriors to the second position on the NPFL table, accumulating 15 points from nine matches, trailing behind Nasarawa United, who leads with 19 points from the same number of games.
