Umuahia: The Abia government has announced its plans to host the Abia-Turkey Investment Summit and Product Exhibition from November 25 to November 27 in Umuahia. Jerome Green-Amakwe, Special Adviser to the state governor, Alex Otti, on Investment Promotion and Public-Private Partnership, revealed this at a news conference in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Green-Amakwe, who also serves as the Chairman of the Steering Committee for the summit, stated that the event carries the theme, ‘Bridging Continents, Unlocking Prosperity’. The summit aims to gather business leaders and investors from Turkey and other European countries to explore investment opportunities in Abia. Organized by the state’s Ministry of Trade and Commerce, the summit will showcase the state’s economic potential and comparative advantages as an investment destination. Green-Amakwe highlighted a Memorandum of Understanding already signed with VEGA Growing Global Enterprise, underscoring the commitment to the success of the summit.
The three-day event will focus on sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture and agro-processing, textile, fashion and leather works, energy, infrastructure, trade, and logistics, among others. Green-Amakwe emphasized that the initiative is part of the state governor’s dedication to fostering a favorable environment for private investment and sustainable economic growth in Abia. He noted the objective of strengthening bilateral relations between Turkey, Abia, and Nigeria, while also showcasing products and services to the African market. The summit will provide opportunities for business-to-business engagements, connecting investors, exporters, and local enterprises to promote partnerships and strategic joint ventures.
Green-Amakwe called on the media to offer positive coverage of the forthcoming summit, highlighting the partnership between the state government and the media as essential in shaping public perception and attracting investors. Emeka Obegolu, President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), commended the Abia government for its investment-driven initiatives. Obegolu stated that the chamber’s ‘Buy Africa, Build Africa’ mantra aligns with the objectives of the upcoming summit and pledged ACCI’s full support for the event.
Obegolu also mentioned plans to collaborate with the Abia government to host a ‘Made-in-Aba Expo’ at the chamber’s premises to further promote locally manufactured products. He encouraged businesses in the Federal Capital Territory to explore the opportunities that Turkish and European partners will bring to Abia. Obegolu urged the media to highlight the summit positively, noting that such initiatives contribute to building a sustainable economy for Nigeria.
