Adeniyi Adegbite Highlights His Journey to Rotary Club Presidency


Lagos: Mr. Adeniyi Adegbite, the newly appointed President of the Rotary Club of Gbagada South in Lagos State, has shared insights into his journey of joining the international humanitarian organization.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, Adegbite’s dedication to humanitarian services and efforts in poverty alleviation inspired his involvement with the Rotary Club.



NAN reports that on Saturday in Lagos, Adegbite was inaugurated as the 23rd President of the Rotary Club of Gbagada South for the 2025/2026 Rotary year. The investiture ceremony, themed ‘Unite for Good,’ officially transitioned leadership from Mr. Olushanu Afolabi to Adegbite. He expressed that his passion for service and desire to effect societal change significantly influenced his decision to join the club.



Adegbite emphasized his longstanding commitment to fostering positive change and noted that while he participated in various charitable activities independently, he recognized the broader impact achievable through Rotary’s platform. Since assuming office on July 1, he has increased the club’s membership from 86 to 101.



He outlined several projects, including a computer literacy initiative for public school students and the establishment of a computer center equipped with ten new computers and a power generator, alongside sponsoring two pupils. Adegbite also announced plans to create a solar-powered digital library in a public secondary school in Agege, aimed at enhancing learning and knowledge sharing.



NAN further reports that the club has introduced a no-interest micro-loan initiative for small-scale traders, offering up to N100,000 repayable in monthly installments. Under Adegbite’s leadership, the club has made strides in education, health, environmental sustainability, and economic empowerment. Key achievements include donating an electronic library to a computer center for multiple nursery and primary schools, forming two Rotakids Clubs, and conducting tree-planting exercises to promote a sustainable environment.



In the realm of maternal and child health, the club provided care materials to over 60 pregnant women at the Mascar Primary Health Centre, Ketu. Additionally, they offered interest-free loans to traders and sponsored youths to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA 2025).



Adegbite assured that his administration would maintain its focus on education, health, youth empowerment, and poverty reduction, emphasizing teamwork, transparency, and innovation in service delivery.



During the investiture ceremony, Mr. Abdul-Kabir Ogungbo, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Tax and Revenue, affirmed the alignment of Rotary’s community service values with the state’s goals, commending Adegbite’s leadership qualities. Lanre Adedoyin, District Governor of District 9112, praised the club’s record of excellence and encouraged the new president to uphold Rotary’s ‘Service Above Self’ motto through sustainable community projects.



NAN reports that attendees at the event pledged over N10 million to support the club’s humanitarian efforts.
