Osogbo: Chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) Osun Chapter, Mr. Ganiyu Musefiu, announced plans to start digital registration for farmers in the state. Musefiu shared this information during an interview in Osogbo.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the national body of AFAN has initiated digital registration for its members across the country. The Osun Chapter is set to begin its registration in a few weeks, after finalizing necessary preparations. Musefiu emphasized that this registration will allow farmers to access agricultural programs provided by the government through the association.
He also mentioned that AFAN has established a central information unit with a toll-free line to assist farmers with inquiries and complaints. Musefiu encouraged farmers to participate in the registration to benefit from opportunities offered by both the government and AFAN.
Furthermore, Musefiu appealed to the state government to focus on supporting farming and farmers, highlighting the importance of involving more youths in agriculture. He stressed the need for food sufficiency in the state and region, warning of potential food shortages if supply from other regions ceases.
The chairman urged the state government to ensure that agriculture program beneficiaries are genuine and practicing farmers.
