Akwa Ibom Governor Signs 695bn Supplementary Budget


Abuja: Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has signed into law the 695 billion 2025 supplementary budget, pledging accelerated implementation of key projects and programmes across the state.



According to Voice of Nigeria, the signing, done during the October edition of the State’s Project Delivery Meeting at Government House, Uyo, marks a significant step in advancing the administration’s development agenda. Governor Eno expressed appreciation to the Speaker and members of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly for the speedy passage of the Supplementary Appropriation Bill, assuring residents that his administration remains committed to transparency, accountability, and people-centred governance.



“Let me assure the people of Akwa Ibom State that all hands are on deck and we will continue to carry out our duties with probity and dedication for the benefit of all, with the passage and signing of the supplementary budget today, we are further fired up to ensure the full implementation of government programmes and projects as contained in the budget,” the Governor said.



To fast-track project execution, Governor Eno announced the immediate release of 60 billion to contractors with certified Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs), directing Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), alongside Delivery Advisors, to ensure strict adherence to timelines and quality standards. The October Project Delivery Meeting featured presentations on 12 ongoing projects across sectors, including agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare, tourism, power, and industry.



Among them were the Tree Crop Revolution, Ibom Tourism Summit, CNG City Bus Project, RAMP Project, Ibom Model Farm, and General Hospitals in Ukanafun and Ibiono Ibom LGAs. The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Udeme Otong, described the Governor’s approach as inclusive and transparent, saying it had strengthened legislative oversight and public accountability.



The Speaker commended the ongoing renovation of the Assembly Complex and reaffirmed the legislature’s continued collaboration with the Executive arm of government. Stakeholders commended Governor Eno for sustaining the monthly delivery sessions, noting that the meetings had institutionalised transparency and efficiency in governance.



Senator Effiong Bob said, “This initiative sets a new governance benchmark. It is not just about executing projects but ensuring value for money and accountability.” Stakeholders reaffirmed their support for Governor Eno’s administration, describing it as a model of participatory governance that prioritises performance and results.
