Ali Modu Sheriff hails Army over boko haram defeat

The factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Ali Modu Sheriff has commended the Nigerian Army for defeating and capturing Sambisa Forest from boko haram terrorists.

Large swaths of Sambisa Forest have over the years served as the major enclave of boko haram terrorists in North East Nigeria.

Mr. Sheriff gave the commendation in Makurdi, the Benue State Capital in North Central Nigeria when he led other national officials of the party on a one day working visit to PDP supporters in the state.

The capture of Sambisa forest alone is a victory and we cannot thank the Army enough for this achievement, said Mr. Sheriff.

Sheriff explained further that the commitment of the federal troops had vindicated him and exposed his political enemies, who had accused him of sponsoring the terrorist group.

I am the number one victim of boko haram. I lost my uncle, other relatives, aides, political associates and friends in the crisis and someone accused me of funding the sect.

The former governor of Borno State said his main agenda as the PDP national chairman was to eliminate the bigwigs in politics and return the party to the electorates.

When PDP leaders came and begged me to take-over the party, I gave them one condition on which to accept the offer, and that is to return the party to the people, which I am doing.

Sheriff also emphasised that the major problem in the PDP was impunity, adding that what the Ahmed Makarfi led faction of the party did in Port Harcourt was the continuation of the impunity they had planted in PDP over the years.

Factional state chairman of the party, Mr. Dan Ale had disclosed that PDP in Benue State was happy and proudly satisfied with the Sheriff-led leadership of the party.

Mr. Ale noted that the outcome of the 2015 election which ousted the PDP from power in the state was a practical demonstration of the people’s anger which must be avoided in subsequent elections.
