Post: AMAC Chairman Announces New Appointments for Council’s Governance


Abuja: Mr. Christopher Maikalangu, the Executive Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), has approved the appointment of Mr. Jafaru Gwagwa as the Council Secretary. Mr. Kingsley Madaki, Senior Special Assistant to the chairman on Media and Public Affairs, disclosed this in a statement in Abuja.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, Maikalangu also appointed other principal officers, supervisory councillors, and special advisers to drive the council’s governance machinery. Mr. Emeka Orji has been appointed as Chief of Staff, while Mr. David Danjuma will serve as the Personal Private Secretary to the chairman. The newly appointed Supervisory Councillors include Mr. Mukhtar Mohammed for Agriculture, Mr. Obira Arinze for Education and Social Services, Mr. Dantani Zadn for Works, and Mr. Austin Oche for Special Duties. Additional appointments include Mr. Nuhu Usman as Supervisory Councillor for Health, Mr. Musa Aliyu for Finance, and Mr. Hashimu Saidu for Environment.



The senior special assistant further stated that Maikalangu approved the appointment of seven Special Advisers to oversee key sectors of the municipal area. The appointees are Mr. Musa Yakubu for Job Creation, Mr. Augustine John for Youth Empowerment, Mr. Obasa Olukayode for Community and Social Development, and Mr. Samuel Nada for Political Matters. Other advisers include Lovet Izakor for Women Affairs, Mr. Amos Yohanna for Revenue, and Kelechi Chibueze for Chieftaincy and Traditional Matters.



Madaki noted that the appointments aim to fulfill the administration’s pledge to ensure all residents across the 12 political wards of AMAC benefit from Maikalangu’s governance. The executive chairman directed the principal officers to resume their respective duties at the AMAC Council Secretariat immediately. All newly appointed supervisory councillors and special advisers have been instructed to report to the secretariat on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. for their official documentation and inauguration.



While congratulating the appointees, Maikalangu charged them to bring their experience to their new roles. He urged them to prioritize excellent and transparent service delivery to the people of AMAC and to avoid all forms of selfishness and divisive bigotries, as stated by Madaki.
