Abuja: The new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, is slated to assume office on Thursday. This significant transition marks a new chapter for the electoral body as Amupitan prepares to take over leadership responsibilities.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, an invitation from the Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, indicated that Amupitan would convene with the Directors of the commission at the INEC Headquarters on the same day. This meeting is part of the planned activities as he steps into his new role.
Before officially assuming his duties, Amupitan is set to be sworn in by President Bola Tinubu at a National Executive Council (FEC) meeting. This ceremony is a formal prerequisite for Amupitan to take charge of the commission’s affairs, further emphasizing the importance of the leadership change at INEC.
