By Nsofor Adaobi Cynthia : Intending pilgrims in the state have been urged to maintain good conduct and represent the State in a good light as they prepare their journey to the holy land.
This was made known during the two day screening of the intending pilgrims that would embark to Israel.
The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr Nkem Okeke stated that pilgrimage is something everybody wants to witness and also a period to communicate with God.
Dr Okeke noted that the screening process this time around would be thorough as absconment was recorded during the last pilgrimage.
He further stated that Anambra State Government is trying to support it in terms of funding, urging them to do their part and provide the necessary information needed.
On his part, the Chairman of the Anambra State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Prof. Ibenta, stated that Pilgrimage is one way to attend to spiritual needs and for one to draw closer to God.
While praising the Government’s unalloyed support, Prof Ibenta enjoined the intending pilgrims to maintain the status quo, and never forget to pray for the state and the country at large.
