Abuja: The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has tasked the newly inaugurated Enugu State Caretaker Committee to uphold unity, discipline, and renewed commitment in strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to Voice of Nigeria, during the inauguration of the seven-member committee led by Dr. Ben Nwoye at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, Professor Yilwatda urged the members to rebuild and expand the party by bringing in new supporters and sustaining the confidence of existing members. He cautioned against internal divisions, stressing that leadership is a call to service and unity.
Professor Yilwatda stated, ‘Even your opponents must become your partners in leadership. You must treat everyone equally and lead by example.’ He explained that the dissolution of the previous Enugu State executive committee followed due constitutional and legal process, and the party’s actions were guided by its constitution and legal advice.
Reaffirming the APC’s commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the Chairman highlighted ongoing reforms in the health sector and economic management. He noted that increased federal allocations have strengthened the capacity of states to meet their obligations.
Professor Yilwatda urged the new leadership to deepen the Renewed Hope message at the grassroots and ensure the party’s visibility across the state. In his remarks, the Caretaker Chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye, pledged to reposition the APC in Enugu and unite all factions, saying ‘the committee had begun extensive political mobilisation across the state.’
Deputy National Chairman (South), Mr. Emma Eneukwu, commended the committee and urged it to strengthen the APC’s presence in the Southeast ahead of future elections.
