Osogbo: A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has urged President Bola Tinubu not to be distracted by the tactics of the opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections. Oyintiloye emphasized that the President should focus on governance and address security threats identified by security agencies.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Oyintiloye made this call while speaking with newsmen in Osogbo, highlighting recent security alerts that warned of possible attacks on vulnerable locations, particularly in parts of southern Nigeria. He stressed the need for President Tinubu to support security agencies to intensify surveillance, strengthen inter-agency collaboration, and take proactive measures to safeguard lives and property amid emerging security concerns.
Oyintiloye, a former lawmaker, advocated for heightened vigilance, improved intelligence gathering, and coordinated preventive action nationwide. He urged relevant security agencies to work closely together, share intelligence, and strengthen surveillance and rapid-response mechanisms, particularly around schools, places of worship, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) facilities, parks, garages, and other vulnerable locations.
He also called for an immediate, thorough, and transparent investigation into recent killings in Osun, urging security agencies to identify and prosecute those involved in the violence. He appealed to stakeholders, including transport workers, community leaders, traditional rulers, and religious leaders, to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information to assist investigations and prevent further violence.
Oyintiloye stressed the importance of strengthening security intelligence through adequate training, equipment, and resources, enabling security agencies to prevent, detect, and respond effectively to attacks. He suggested that service chiefs should review and adjust their operational strategies as needed.
He also called on state governors to support the President’s efforts by providing resources to security agencies within their jurisdictions. Oyintiloye emphasized the role of governors and local government chairmen in maintaining local intelligence and peace.
He concluded by urging citizens to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and continue to pray for peace, unity, and progress in the country. Oyintiloye expressed confidence in the professionalism and competence of Nigeria’s security personnel, noting their capability to restore lasting peace.
