The National Executive Committee of Nigeria’s governing party, the All Progressives Congress, APC will on Monday, April 9, take a decision on tenure extension of its National and State executives.
The party’s National Chairman, Mr. John Oyegun stated this while briefing journalists after a meeting between some of the APC governors and the party’s National Working Committee at the APC Headquarters in Abuja.
It would be recalled that the All Progressives Congress, APC set up a Technical Committee to access the legal implication of extending the tenure of its National, State and Local Executives for 12 months.
This decision to set up a committee was taken after Nigeria’s president Muhammadu Buhari said extension of the tenure of executives was unconstitutional
The APC National Chairman, Mr. John Oyegun said the committee has finished its work and would submit its report to the National Executive Committee.
Consideration of the recommendations
This report will be placed before NEC on Monday the 9th and appropriate decisions will be taken. Thereafter of course we will announce to you the further steps that we are going to take resulting from NEC consideration of the recommendations when we receive them.
The bottom line is that the APC leadership is back as one happy, united and focused party strongly behind our president and strongly behind our executives in all the states, Oyegun said.
