The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai has been presented with a Heroes’ Award by the National Council of Women Society (NCWS), Yobe State branch.
The presentation was done on Monday at the Headquarters Sector 2, Operation LAFIYA DOLE, Damaturu.
The Award was received by the Acting Commander Sector 2, Operation LAFIYA DOLE, Brigadier General Mohammed Dala on behalf of the COAS.
President of NCWS, Hajiya Halima Joda, noted that the award was in recognition of the courageous and exemplary leadership by the COAS and the professionalism exhibited by the troops of the Nigerian Army since his assumption of office.
She further stated that, The efforts of the Nigerian Army cannot be overemphasised in all aspects of live today in Nigeria, more especially in the areas of protecting the territories of our Nation from all forms of terrorists attack”.
Brigadier General Mohammed Dala, appreciated members of the organisation for their kind gesture and for deeming it fit to present an award of such magnitude to the COAS.
He further said that this award will serve as morale booster to Officers and Soldiers of the Nigerian Army, who are currently confronting various security issues across the country.
Brigadier General Dala, later presented sewing and grinding machines to members of NCWS Yobe state branch and urged them to use the items donated by the Nigerian Army Department of Civil-Military Affairs, for the empowerment of the less privileged and widows in the society.
