Army launches Exercises across Nigeria

The Nigerian Army says it is commencing Exercises CROCODILE SMILE 4, EGWU EKE 4 and AYEM AKPATUMA 2 to consolidate the efforts at curtailing insecurity across the country.

This exercise is in addition to extending exercise POSITIVE IDENTIFICATION to all States in Nigeria.

Chief of Training and Operation, Major General Enogbong Udo made this known while briefing journalists on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai.

According to Major General Udo, Excercise Crocodile smile 4 will be carried out in South South and South West which include Akwa Ibom, Delta, Oyo, Ogun, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, and Lagos.

While operation Ayam Akpatuma would be carried out in Nasarawa, kogi, Taraba, Benue, Kaduna and Niger States and Exercise EGWU EKE 4 would be carried out in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States.

The Excercises are to be conducted concurrently in the South South and South West, South East as well as North Central Zones respectively from 1st November to the 23rd of December 2019

In addition to exercises Excercises CROCODILE SMILE 4, EGWU EKE 4 and AYEM AKPATUMA 2, Operation Positive Identification which is ongoing in the North East theatre of operation will be extended to cover the entire nation. The operation will be directed at curtailing the movement of bandits, kidnappers, armed robbers ethnic militia, cattle rustlers and other criminal elements, Major General Udo said.

Show of Force

The Major General also said the Nigerian Army Women Corps, will stage a robust show of force and as well build patrols in some selected locations in Nigeria aside working to build cordial Civil-Military Relations, with activities in the areas of community outreaches.

The Army urged the citizens not to panic on sight of increased military presence and other security agencies, that all are geared towards securing the country, protecting lives and properties.
