Abuja: The Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC) has tasked participants of its Work Ethics and Organisational Performance Course 8/2026 to apply knowledge acquired to improve productivity and organisational efficiency in their workplaces. The Director-General of NARC, retired Maj.-Gen. James Myam, emphasized this during the graduation of the participants in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Myam urged the participants to utilize the insights gained during the five-day programme to enhance performance and foster harmonious working relationships within their respective organisations. He highlighted the critical role of work ethics in organisational survival, especially given the diverse social and psychological backgrounds of employees.
Myam pointed out that effective management of workplace dynamics can promote harmony and create an environment conducive to achieving organisational objectives. He described the participants as representatives of their services and organisations and encouraged them to act as change agents.
The Director-General advised them to share the acquired knowledge with colleagues and contribute to addressing practices that hinder productivity and workplace effectiveness. He cautioned against blaming organisational systems for poor performance without making efforts to identify and rectify practices that contribute to inefficiency.
He also underscored the importance of networking, urging participants to maintain professional relationships developed during the course. He noted that such networks could strengthen collaboration and facilitate the exchange of ideas among personnel from diverse institutions.
The course coordinator, retired Brig.-Gen. Ferdinand Eze, stated that the centre would assess the programme’s effectiveness through feedback from participants upon their return to workplaces. Eze mentioned that feedback from previous programmes had generally been positive, showing that participants had applied lessons learned to improve performance in their organisations.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Navy Lt. Temilade Egbewumi noted that the course had reinforced their understanding of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct. She added that the programme emphasized the responsibility of leaders to motivate, support, and effectively guide their subordinates while maintaining constructive relationships with senior personnel.
Participants were exposed to various topics, including workplace ethics, organisational culture, value-based leadership, decision-making, performance management, communication, interpersonal relations, team building, and workplace administration. The course welcomed junior and middle-cadre personnel from the Armed Forces of Nigeria, paramilitary organisations, corporate bodies, and civil society.
