Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has call on the youth in the state to inculcate the habit of being productive so that they can be useful to themselves and the society in general.
He made the call at the occasion of Annual Conference and presentation of Awards to people that made contributions to human development, organized by the Arewa Youth Protection, Unity and Peaceful Forum at Coronation hall of the Kano Government House, Today (Saturday).
The governor who was represented by the commissioner of information, youth and culture, Malam Muhammad Garba noted that youth have constituted the greater percentage of every society, therefore there is the need for the government and other stakeholders to support them.
He explained that since the inception of the Governor Ganduje led administration, various trainings and empowerment programmes were evolved with a view to making them self reliant and useful to the society.
Malam Garba said some of the empowerment programmes include the training of 100 youth from across the 44 local governments on automobile at PAN, Kaduna, youth empowerment on ICT and Tallafin Ganduje empowerment programme on different trades and skills among others.
On the award given to the governor as the best performing northern governor by the organizers of the programme, the commissioner said it will serve as a motivation for the governor to continue to do more to the people of the state.
While making his presentation at the occasion, a senior lecturer at Bayero University Kano, Prof. Kamilu Sani Fagge observed that the youth of today are in sharp contrast with those of yesteryears In terms of positive thinking and productivity.
Prof. Fagge then call on the youth to as a matter of necessity redirect their thinking so as to be useful to themselves and humanity in general.
During the occasion award of excellence was presented to Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as best performing northern governor along with some personalities that distinguished themselves in services for human development.
