Benue state to generate 36 Mega Watts of electricity

The Government of Benue State in North Central Nigeria is to generate 36 mega watts of electricity through the provision of gas turbines by a Chinese Company, Nantian Electricity Power Systems Ltd.

Governor Samuel Ortom gave this indication when briefing journalists on the gains of the just concluded Nigeria � China investment Forum, held in Guangzhou.

He said that during his visit to the headquarters of the company in Futian District, Shenzhen where he held meaningful talks with the top management of the company so that Nantian Electricity Power Systems Company would commence operations in Benue State within the year.

The visit the governor explained was part of his initiative to improve the level of power generation, transmission and distribution which has been a challenge in the state.

The power project is expected to enhance industrialization in particular, and to boost economic activities in the state, Governor Ortom explained.
