Ekwulobia (Aguata LGA)-Newly, installed Catholic Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese Peter Ebelechukwu Okpalaeke has stressed the need for cooperation between the Church and Government in the pursuit of a better society.
Bishop Okpalaeke made the call when stakeholders in Orumba South Local Government Area LGA), led by Transition Committee Chairman, Mr Raymond Onyegu paid him a courtesy visit at the Bishop’s Court, Ekwulobia.
Okpalaeke commended the LGA chairman for organising the courtesy call and the visible cooperation between the Church and the LG.
He prayed that peace would continue to reign in the Old Aguata Division.
“My prayer is that God will bring development to the Old Aguata Division in order to enhance better living standards within the area.’’
Earlier, the LGA Chairman Mr Onyegu said that the purpose of the visit was to felicitate with the bishop after his installation into the Mercy Seat of the New Diocese.
“It is also to inform him of readiness of the Government and the people of Orumba South to work with him for betterment of society.’’
Member representing Orumba South in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr Emma Nwafor assured the bishop of support from people of Orumba South in spreading the gospel of the Kingdom of Christ.
Among stakeholders who spoke during the visit include Prof. Godwin Onu, a former Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Oko and Chief G. N Muotolo, a former Chairman Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Anambra State.
They all praised the Pope for approving the creation of the new Diocese and prayed for wisdom for the bishop to succeed.
