Abuja: The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has ramped up its oversight of the ongoing screening process for applicants seeking employment in three key agencies. A board member, who requested anonymity, shared with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that this initiative aims to ensure transparency, fairness, and strict adherence to established procedures.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the screening, particularly the medical evaluations, was closely monitored by board members Mrs. Juliet Olaniyan and Mr. Kazim Yusuf at the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Headquarters in Abuja. Yusuf advised applicants to verify their invitation slips for the correct venue and time to avoid confusion. He noted instances where applicants mistakenly attended the NSCDC Abuja center despite being assigned elsewhere.
Yusuf described the rigorous medical screening process, which includes assessments of pulse rate, height, hearing, full blood count, and other necessary evaluations to determine candidates’ service readiness. He emphasized the importance of the hearing assessment for effective communication during duty.
The screening is conducted in batches to maintain order and prevent congestion. Each batch is scheduled throughout the day, ensuring a smooth process. Yusuf highlighted that candidates need to check their slips to confirm their designated venues.
Olaniyan stated that the board’s presence at the center was to ensure a smooth and fair exercise, ensuring no qualified applicant was denied access. She reported that the exercise commenced at 9 a.m., with nearly 100 applicants screened by the time of the visit, and approximately 300 candidates expected to be screened by day’s end.
The board representatives reaffirmed their dedication to maintaining a credible, transparent, and seamless recruitment process.
