The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has began training of its staffers on curbing
Procurement Related Corruption to further assist Federal Government fight against corruption.
The Registrar-General of the Commission, Alhaji Garba Abubakar told newsmen In Abuja on Sunday that the anti-procurement corruption training which will cover over 400 of CAC staff in phases, had begun with training of Executive and Non-executive officers of the Commission in Nasarawa state.
A total of about 97 officers were trained in the first phase of the anti-cortuption training exercise.
He said that the contents were designed to further support the present administration’s fight against corruption by highlighting the dangers and negative effects of Corruption in Government Establishments.
Abubakar said that the training workshop had the theme “Overview of Public Procurement Act 2007, Processes and Procedures for Goods, Works and Service, Contract Management & Dispute Resolution: Measures for Curbing Procurement Related Corruption in Government Establishments”.
He said that the phased-training would cover CAC workers across the country to enhance their capacity and re-orient them against corruption.
It will be recalled that the Registrar-General had recently announced that the Commission would train a total of 443 of its staffers before the end of the year.
Abubakar reiterated his commitment to ensuring training and retraining of CAC Staffers for optimal performance and increased honesty.
The Registrar-General commended the workers who participated in the first phase of the training in Nasarawa for their exemplary conduct during the exercise.
Abubakar said that the next two streams of the training programme would focus on Understanding Digital Transformation and the Companies and Allied Matters Act, CAMA, 2020.
Some of the beneficiaries of the training programme described their experience as worthwhile and therefore commended the Registrar General for prioritizing the training and re-training of the workforce.
They described the training as horizon broadening, wide- ranging as well as gave them further guidance on the provisions of the Procurement Act.
Others applauded the quality of the facilitators and the knowledge received particularly on the Finance Act, 2020, adding that it would go a long way in improving and shaping their decision making.
Also speaking to newsmen, Mr Abdul Mamman of Charter Housing Consulting and event facilitator, urged the participants to engender good procurement practice and ensure strict adherence to rules governing procurement activities.
During the three-day training participants were treated to Aerobics and Health talk in a bid to ensure they maintain healthy life style.
