A delegation of Inspectors from the Confederation of African Football, CAF have arrived in Makurdi, the Benue State Capital to inspect facilities at the Aper Aku stadium, venue for the CAF championship matches.
The team is also inspecting hotels as part of build up to the commencement of the 2018/2019 African Champions League Competition which has Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi as Nigeria's sole representative.

The Chief Operating Officer, Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Salihu Abubakar explained that they were in Benue to assess the readiness of the state to host matches involving Lobi Stars of Makurdi and other clubs involved in the competition.
We shall be inspecting the stadium, hotels for the visiting teams and other visitors, travel arrangements, communication and other facilities, he said.
Abubakar expressed the confidence in the ability of Lobi Stars to do well in the competition, having performed so brilliantly during the just concluded NPFL season.
Receiving the delegation, the acting Governor, Benson Abounu expressed the readiness of Benue State government to host the competition and to support Lobi Stars to lift the trophy for Nigeria.
Abounu promised that Lobi Stars would not disappoint Nigerians who are expecting the club to do the nation proud by winning the cup which has eluded the country for 15 years now.
He assured the visiting team that they would be satisfied with the facilities put in place by government so far for the competition.
According to him, other issues yet to be addressed pertaining to the competition shall be attended to before the commencement of the championship campaigns.
