Abuja:China has commissioned a 360-meter-high wind measurement tower, touted as the world’s tallest wind energy observation facility.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the facility will aid in high-altitude wind energy observation and the technical validation of wind energy standards. It is situated in a significant wind and solar energy development zone, contributing to the creation of large-scale renewable energy bases in desert and desert grassland areas.
This initiative aligns with China’s 14th Five-Year Plan. The facility is capable of measuring various parameters such as wind speed, wind direction, wind shear, turbulence intensity, and atmospheric stability at different altitudes.
The data collected will bolster research into high-altitude wind energy, assist in the technical design of large-scale wind turbines, and support the development of new energy systems. Additionally, the facility will foster advanced technology development and provide an open research platform for researchers and other users.
