Post: Civil Society Groups Praise Senator Adeola’s Contributions to Ogun West

Abuja:The Civil Society Groups for Good Governance (CSGGG) and Integrity Advocacy for Development Initiative (IADI) have commended Senator Solomon Adeola for his performance in serving the Ogun West Senatorial District.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the groups highlighted their findings during a news conference in Abuja, where they reported on various initiatives executed by Senator Adeola. Chief Dominic Ogakwu, the President of CSGGG, emphasized that their support is based on an evidence-based approach to governance. The CSOs, along with partner organizations, independently monitored several Federal Government projects and empowerment programs facilitated by Adeola in Ogun West and neighboring regions.

Ogakwu noted that the CSOs conducted thorough inspections of project locations, engaged with residents and beneficiaries, and documented their findings through various means like monitoring reports and photographs. The intervention by the CSOs was in response to allegations and public commentary about projects facilitated by Senator Adeola, who also serves as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations. The CSOs asserted that their insights are derived from firsthand observations and verified facts, not from information provided by the senator or his associates.

The monitored projects included infrastructure such as roads, schools, electricity, and healthcare facilities, as well as empowerment programs for various community members like traders, artisans, farmers, and students. Ogakwu reported substantial evidence of project execution and commendable standards in several cases. The CSOs also observed the presence of anti-corruption agencies like the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) during some monitoring activities.

While acknowledging the execution of projects, Ogakwu pointed out that questions regarding procurement processes, contract values, and financial transactions remain important for scrutiny, which should be based on verifiable evidence. Executive directors Patrick Onomodeke and Christopher Ofomhi praised Adeola’s efforts, urging CSOs to base their positions on national issues with factual backing. Adeniran Taiwo, Director of Programmes at Transparency Advocacy for Development Initiative, also praised the senator, calling for other senators to follow Adeola’s example.
