Abuja: Dr Mohammed Shehu, Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), emphasized the need for collective vigilance, integrity, and transparency in the fight against corruption across all levels of governance. Shehu made this statement during a one-day sensitisation programme organized by the RMAFC’s Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) in collaboration with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Shehu, represented by the commission’s Secretary, Mr. Nwaze Okechukwu, highlighted RMAFC’s strategic role in Nigeria’s fiscal framework. The programme aimed to enhance awareness among stakeholders about the impact of corruption, which undermines development, distorts fiscal planning, erodes public trust, and ultimately denies citizens the social and economic benefits intended by government revenues.
Shehu stressed the importance of ethical conduct in safeguarding public resources, noting the constitutional empowerment of RMAFC in this regard. He expressed satisfaction with the gathering of stakeholders dedicated to promoting transparency, accountability, and integrity in national governance.
Mr. Idris Sariki, the ACTU Chairman, expressed gratitude to the ICPC for its guidance and collaboration in fostering transparency within the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). Sariki noted that the establishment of ACTU within the RMAFC underscores the commission’s commitment to integrity, professionalism, accountability, and patriotism. He emphasized that anti-corruption efforts rely on the daily actions and decisions of staff and management, urging every officer to fulfill their responsibilities for effective service delivery.
