Commissioner commends pace of work at 100 Foot Road erosion -control works in Nnewi

Uruagu (Nnewi North LGA), April 30, 2020 (MOI Commissioner for Works, Mr Marcel Ifejiofor, has praised the contractor handling the 100 Foot Road erosion-control works in Nnewi.

“I am happy at the speed with which you are have been executing the job,’’ Mr Ifejiofor made the commendation, when he visited the site to ascertain progress of work.

He also commended the IDC, the contractor for their effort at delivering the job as scheduled.

“This gully erosion is about 30ft deep, but with the filling, it has covered up and thereby reclaiming the road. The contractor did quality jobs and I am happy at what they have achieved.’’

The commissioner thanked the community for their support toward the contractor, which had propelled them to deliver quality job.

He said the project would be delayed up till September before it would be asphalted in order to see one more raining season and other challenges that could come with flooding.

The IDC Construction Manager, Mr Yusuf Zebb said the work was challenging because of the volume of floodwaters entering the area.

He said they were happy at being able to deliver the job before the rainy season.

Mr Zebb said that they would continue to watch the road until September, before asphalting, in order to know how it would respond to the coming raining season.

“I thank the state government for always believing in us.’’
