COVID-19: House bans visitors from entering National Assembly

The Nigerian House of Representatives has resolved to ban visitors from entering the National Assembly Complex except on serious appointment to curtail the outbreak of Corona Virus.

The resolution followed adoption of a motion under matters of urgent public importance on the need to adopt measures on the disease.

Presenting the measures, Mr. Muktar Chawai from Kaduna State called for the banning of all forms of public gatherings and the cancellation of flights as well as purchase medical equipment to screen those coming in to the house including the lawmakers.

But the House rejected a prayer seeking for the closure of schools for a period of one month and directed the minister of health to be briefing the house on weekly bases about the prevailing situation for quick response.

Most of the lawmakers who contributed on the motion advocated for serious action on the matter in view of the number of people dying and adverse effect it has on the economy.
